Microsoft and Amazon have announced a cloud gaming partnership that will allow customers to play Xbox games without a console beginning in July for those who own certain Amazon Fire TV Sticks. Rather than requiring an Xbox console, users can download the Xbox app to their Fire TV device, sign into their Microsoft account, and begin playing straight away.
If you don’t already have one, you can be sure that it’s less expensive than an Xbox even if this arrangement does require some investment. You must possess or obtain a Fire TV Stick 4K or 4K Max in order for the entire setup to function.
A compatible Bluetooth controller (such as an Xbox wireless controller, Xbox adaptive controller, PlayStation DualSense, or DualShock 4 controller) is also required, as is an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.
Right now, Game Pass offers a number of very graphically demanding games, like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, in addition to technological heavyweights like Starfield. By using cloud streaming, the Amazon Fire TV stick allows users to play these games without requiring them to be run directly off console hardware. This leads us to the last requirement you’ll need to make the most of this: a good internet connection.
